Music Arts at Antyx!

That’s a wrap on our three-day workshop on musical arts! Together we got to explore various musical realms that reflected the interests of the diverse youth within our greater forest lawn community! Through beat boxing, rap battling, various instruments, mixing, lyrical expression through spoken word poetry, we were able to have some awesome jam sessions! Through the exploration of different musical avenues we were able to apply each learning to topics of respect, open-mindedness, and contributing positive vibes to our community through a music and art collaboration. On our final jam session we were honoured to welcome our special guest Jamal Hamadeh, a local DJ and host of CJSW 90.9 radio station! Jamal was able to educate us on the evolution of hip-hop through the use of turntables and vinyl records. With the help of Jamal, we were able to test out the turntables through mixing and scratching some awesome beats which were unique to our own style! Together we were able to take a look at how each collaboration of music could make a positive difference for our community audience.

Antyx will also be hosting an exciting spring break music camp during the week of March 21st-24th. The camp will explore a variety of instruments, genres of music, as well as the opportunity to meet and learn from talented local artists within the Calgary music scene! If you are interested in signing up for our spring break music camp please contact tony@antyx.org for more information!
