Neighbour Day: Snap & Chat!
Youth Voices hosts Neighbour Day @ the Genesis Centre!
For Calgary Neighbour Day, June 18, 2016, Antyx youth planned an event at the Genesis Centre called Snap and Chat. A social-media themed event involved our savvy youth guiding passers-by in the arts of Snapchat, breadfacing, chalk art, hashtagging and hip hop dance. #yycneighbourday
We had a photobooth, sidewalk chalk, bouncy house and live DJ’ed music with a dance floor on site. The AGA Khan Foundation even brought out their Together Tour bus! Attendees were invited to start conversations using Snap Chat and share their experiences. Our youth participants were key facilitators of all the activities - things they had planned themselves to engage their community. Breadface was a popular activity as people recorded themselves smashing their face into slices of bread. The Cypher YYC crew was also there with a dance floor and everyone got a chance to show their moves! It was a day to be remembered for fun, family, and getting to know our neighbours.
