Meet our Feature Friday this week: Krystal! Krystal was one of our facilitators for the Eyes on the Ave art installation mentioned in our social media #ThrowbackThursday yesterday! She was such an inspiration and helped our youths step out of their comfort zone in order to get to know people within their community! Her experience coaching men’s basketball and volleyball has taught her valuable lessons and she shared with us a learning lesson that stuck in our hearts: “Keep in mind patience and love and showing them that they are loved”.

Krystal has her own photography business (@flyfreeweddings on Instagram) and specializes in capturing moments of elopements. What inspires her in her business is hiking and doing anything outside so that she can plan epic adventures for her clients! She’s passionate about educating couples that it’s okay to get eloped and to not have a huge wedding. She saw how stressful a bride and groom can get trying to manage their big day, and wants people to know that “It’s okay to love. No one needs to be there, whatever you want on your day”.

Krystal encourages anybody getting into photography to photograph everything they can, and to try every different type of photography! She also gave us great advice for those who are looking to pursue an artistic career: “Just do something that sets your soul on fire that you love doing and that you have a passion to do. I feel like if you work hard at anything, it doesn’t matter what it is, you can be successful in it. You can’t go half-way, you have to be 100%.”
