FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE - AUGUST 27, 2021

THE ALCOVE AND ANTYX ARTS HOST OUTDOOR COLLABORATIVE LIVE ART JAM AND YOUTH SHOWCASE AT INGLEWOOD’S ESKER FOUNDATION, A CONTEMPORARY ART GALLERY

Calgary, ABAntyx Community Arts and The Alcove Centre for the Arts are hosting a pop-up outdoor collaborative Live Art Jam and Youth Showcase at Inglewood's Esker Foundation, (1011 9 Ave SE, rear parking lot), tonight between 4:00 p.m.-11:00 p.m.

Antyx Community Arts, The Alcove, and Esker Foundation have teamed up to provide a free community outdoor arts event, suitable for all ages. The event lineup includes a rhythm & beats workshop led by local musicians Jonathan Chavez & Abijha Knight, an exhibition tour of Esker’s contemporary art gallery, open mic performances, and a live edition of Raw Voices; an eclectic showcase of spoken word, comedy, and music. Antyx Youth Lead Facilitators will be leading an all-elements Hip Hop Jam from 6:00 p.m.-8:00 p.m. that includes an interactive graffiti jam with spray paint demonstrations, rap & dance cyphers, and open DJing equipment for anyone who wants to learn the art of turntables.

The pop-up event will be the last jam of the summer with the hope to include community members of all ages in collaborative art events that showcase the many varieties of talent and creativity that Calgary artists and youth have to offer. In the event of weather conditions that pose a risk to the event and public safety, plans have been arranged to move festivities inside the Esker Foundation building. The event is open to anyone to attend by registering at https://alcoveartscentre.ca/events/.
