OPENING YOUTH GRAFFITI ART MURAL SHOWCASE AT CALGARY’S AWARD-WINNING, CONTAINR ART PARK

Calgary, ABAntyx Community Arts and Springboard Performance will be hosting a youth mural showcase at pop-up arts and culture hub, ContainR Art Park (1020 2nd AVE NW), tonight between 7:00-9:00 p.m.

The event marks the conclusion of an intensive two-week online and in-person mural camp that ran from July 12-23. Youth artists and bloggers submitted applications and creative samples and were then selected by Antyx Arts & Springboard Performance for the unique opportunity. Youth spent their time learning, designing, and blogging through the creation of three (3) outdoor graffiti art mural pieces which will be showcased on the sides of large shipping containers at Sunnyside’s ContainR Art Park. The showcase is free to attend and everyone is welcome to come. More information about the camp can be found here.

All of the youth artists will be in attendance along with their friends and family. The artists and bloggers will speak about themselves and their art on stage. The event hopes to provide closure for the artists as well as promote community art and exposure for young visual artists and writers.

Antyx is a community arts company that uses the arts and community development processes to create opportunities for youth to become more engaged in their community and experience increased community connection.

Springboard Performance is a non-profit organization devoted to connecting artists, audiences, the body and the mind through physical contemporary creation and public space manipulation. We provide opportunities to artists to risk, learn, create, perform and connect with a local and national community.
